VARANASI: Immovable properties of jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari’s close aide Angad Rai alias Jhullan Rai amounting to Rs 7.17 crore were attached by Ghazipur police at Sherpur village of Bhanvarkole area on Tuesday.
SP Ghazipur Omvir Singh said Rai is currently lodged in jail and has 22 cases pending against him.
During the on-going police investigation against Mukhtar gang, it came to light that Rai had created immovable properties with illegally earned money at Sherpur village of Bhanvarkole area. He had purchased a plot in the name of his wife Sarita Rai in Jagjivanpur area of Mohammadabad on which a building was being constructed, the SP said. Other property had been purchased by him at his paternal village of Sehrpur, he added.
