UP Municipal Election 2023: The counting of votes for Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls in Uttar Pradesh began at 8am on Saturday. Initial trends show BJP leading in most seats. The polling was held in two phases on May 4 and May 11, respectively. The first phase of polling took place on May 4 in 37 districts and second phase for 38 districts on May 11. There are 83,378 candidates in the fray for 14,522 posts, according to the EC. Around 53 per cent voter turnout was registered in both phases. During campaigning, Yogi Adityanath had slammed Samajwadi Party, alleging those responsible for riots and curfews in Kanpur were its candidates in the urban local body polls.Read Less
