PRAYAGRAJ: This is for the first time since the inception in 1921 that the UP Secondary Education Board, commonly known as UP Board, has announced the results of class 10 and 12 in a record time. This year’s exams for both class 10 and 12 commenced on February 16 and concluded on March 4.
The Board has also created history by completing the evaluation work before the set deadline of April 1 (evaluation work got completed on March 30) and in a record time of 51 days, the Board has declared the results and that too of class 10 and 12, simultaneously. This year, a total of 58,84,634 candidates have registered for the board exams of class 10 and 12. Of these, a total of 31,16,454 students had registered for class 10 exams and 27, 68, 180 were registered for class 12.
Like the previous years, girls continued to outshine boys in the overall result of which were announced by the director UP Secondary Education Board, Mahendra Dev in the presence of Board Secretary, Dibyakant Shukla, here on Tuesday. The overall pass percentage of class 10 is 89.78% whereas that of class 12, the pass percentage is 75.52%. In high school exams, 28,63,621 had appeared and 25,70,987 were declared successful. The passing percentage of class 10 was 89.78%, which is the best in the last one decade. The passing percentage of girls was 93.34% while that of boys was 86.64%.
In intermediate exams, 25,71,002 had appeared and 19,41,717 were declared successful. The passing percentage of class 12 was 75.52%. The passing percentage of girls was 83% while that of boys, it was 69.34%. In comparison to last years’s result for class 10, there has been an increase of 1.60% in the passing percentage of the candidates. This includes a 1.39% increase in the passing percentage of boys and 1.65 % increase in the passing percentage of girls.
In the result of class 12, there has been a decline of 9.81 % in the overall passing percentage in comparison to 2022. The decline has been both in boys and girls as there has been a decline of 11.87% in the passing percentage of boys and a decrease of 7.15% in the passing percentage of girls. However, there has been an increase of 2.73 % of candidates passing with distinction. The percentage of candidates passing in first division too has decreased with 5.32%. “The meticulous planning of conducting the exams and that too in a fair and transparent manner had started way back in August-September last year. We evolved methods to check the loopholes and initiated steps to expedite the process”, said Shukla.
