Ulb: Prep On For Counting Of Votes At Mundera Mandi On May 13 | Allahabad News – Times of India



PRAYAGRAJ: With the second and last phase of polling for urban local body (ULB) elections getting completed in the state on Thursday, the district administration is nearing completion of the arrangements put in place for counting of votes on May 13.
The polling for 100 wards of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation and eight nagar panchayats took place in Prayagraj on May 4.
The counting of votes cast for electing the mayor and corporators of 100 wards will be done at Mundera Mandi campus from 7am on May 13 (Saturday). On the other hand, the votes polled for the candidates in fray for the post of president and members of the eight nagar panchayats of the district will be counted in the respective nagar panchayat areas.
According to district election officer/district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri instructions have been given to complete the preparations on top priority.
The DEO has issued several guidelines for the safe completion of the counting. Mobile, electronic watches, electronic devices, calculators, water bottles have been banned at the counting site.
“Orders for installation of CCTV cameras at the counting venues and videography of the entire process too have been given. A control room will be set up at the DSTO office in the city from where the report of the votes counted in each round will be issued,” the DM said.
On the counting day, a total of 738 government employees will be engaged for the process. For the counting of votes, 56 tables will be set up for the candidates of the post of mayor and corporators while in the nagar panchayats, the votes of candidates in fray for the posts of presidents and members will be counted at 29 tables.
There will be four employees stationed on each table for the counting of municipal corporation votes. This would include one observer along with two employees performing counting and one employee bringing and carrying EVMs. At the same time, five employees will be deployed on one table for the counting of votes of the nagar panchayats.
Officials said the counting of municipal candidates will be completed in seven to eight hours.
