Ulb: Prayagraj To Witness Multi-cornered Fight In Ulb Polls | Allahabad News – Times of India



Prayagraj: With over a dozen aspirants including candidates of major political parties have filed their nomination papers to contest the urban local body polls for the mayoral post in Prayagraj municipal corporation, there seems to be a multi-cornered contest in the city.
Candidates of prominent political parties including Ganesh Kesarwani (BJP), Syed Ahmad (BSP), Ajay Srivastava (SP), Prabha Shankar Mishra (Congress) and Mohd Quadir (AAP) have filed their nominations and are holding meetings with the party cadre to chalk out strategies to win urban local body polls. There are a total of 15,76,713 including 8,79,930 men and 6,96,783 women voters in the nagar nigam electorate and they will decide the fate of the candidates on May 4.
On Tuesday, AICC secretary and Chhattisgarh cabinet minister Rajesh Tiwari inaugurated the central office of Congress mayoral candidate Prabha Shankar Mishra at Elgin road. Addressing party leaders and workers, Tiwari called upon partymen to strengthen the hands of party candidates and count priorities. Senior party leader Kishore Varshney on the occasion said, “We have many plans to improve the traffic scenario in city”.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders also held an important meeting at party’s headquarter in Civil Lines to chalk out strategy for polls. Senior leaders claimed party would also take stern action against party workers who are planning to contest urban local body polls as independent candidate. Meanwhile, leaders of BSP, AAP and SP have too chalked out their plan and strategties to contest polls and held a series of meetings.
