Top five things about the Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Expected price, features, tech – Times of India


Maruti Suzuki unveiled its much-anticipated compact SUV, the Fronx at the Auto Expo 2023. At the same time, the company had commenced the bookings for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The company has recently confirmed that the Fronx has received over 15,500 bookings. Slated to launch in the second half of April 2023, here are five things to know about the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Interior features
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx will go on sale via Nexa dealerships of the manufacturer. Based on the Baleno, the Fronx will come equipped with a 9.0-inch touchscreen information display, a HUD, an Arkamys sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, auto climate control and Type C chargers to name a few.

Design
In terms of design, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is inspired from the Grand Vitara SUV. The front fascia features a hexagonal grille, split headlamps and LED DRLs. The side profile is flanked by squared-off wheel arches, 16-inch alloy wheels, a sloping roofline and plastic body cladding. Moving on to the rear, the Fronx has received wraparound LED tail-lamps connected by an LED strip running across the tailgate, similar to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Powertrain
Under the hood, the Fronx gets a 1.2L mild-hybrid engine, generating 88.8 hp power and 113 Nm torque. The engine is mated with a five-speed manual gearbox and an optional five-speed AMT unit. It also receives a new 1L turbo-petrol engine that produces 98 hp power and 148 Nm torque. This engine comes paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a six-speed torque converter AT unit as optional.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the only car in the manufacturer’s India line-up that gets a 1L turbo-petrol engine, regenerative braking, electric torque assist while acceleration and idle start/stop feature.
Safety technology
Safety suite of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx will receive dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchorages as standard. The higher-spec variants will also get a 360-degree camera, curtain & side airbags, Hill Hold Assist and reverse parking sensors.

Expected price
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx will be positioned above the Baleno and below the Brezza in the manufacturer’s portfolio, we can expect the Fronx compact SUV to be available at a starting price of Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Upon launch, it will go up against the likes of the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite.
