Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would emerge as a torch-bearer for the entire country in the coming days, showing the path of progress to all the other states in the country, party president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said on Thursday.
Addressing the party functionaries at the BRS plenary held at Telangana Bhavan on the occasion of party’s 22nd foundation day, KCR said the party had come a long way – from realising the dream of achieving statehood to Telangana to evolve as a national party to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the country.
“Now, we are moving ahead to keep the country on the path of progress with a slogan of “Aab Ki Bar Kisan Sarkar” (Farmers’ government this time) at the Centre,” the chief minister said.
He said after the formation of Telangana state, the party had studied the development models adopted by many other states in the country and brainstormed how the country should move forward. “We have evolved the Telangana model of development which will be a role model for the entire country,” he said.
KCR pointed out that Telangana was ahead of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in terms of per capita income. “The per capita income of Andhra Pradesh is ₹2,19,518. It is less than by ₹1 lakh compared to Telangana. Similarly, the per capital income of another 16 and 17 states is much less than ours,” he said.
Telangana state has been implementing various schemes for the welfare of different sections of the people without facing any financial crisis. Maharashtra government says that it will go bankrupt if it implements Telangana schemes,” he said.
He said Telangana registered surprising growth in every sector like electricity, roads, paddy procurement, agriculture, livestock and fisheries. “People of Maharashtra are visiting Telangana to see the progress of the state,” he pointed out.
KCR said investments were flooding Telangana due to effective functioning of the government. “If you are smart enough, you can grow food grains even on hills,” he said.
Stating that coming to power again in Telangana is not a big task, the BRS president said the focus should be on winning more seats than in the past. “In the first elections to Telangana, the BRS had won 63 seats and in 2018, it won 88 seats. This time, I am confident the BRS would win more than 100 seats,” he said.
KCR, however, asked the party leaders not to be complacent about the party’s victory. He said in every assembly constituency, two leaders should take the responsibility of propagating the government programmes.
“We need to connect with people through programmes like Palle Nidra (Stay nights in the villages). Campaign of the government schemes, interaction with the public should be done regularly,” he said.
He said Zilla Parishad chairpersons, MPs and district in-charges should play the role of in-charges in the assembly constituencies where the BRS legislators are not available. The process should be completed within three to four months, he said.
KCR also called for burying the differences among the leaders and bringing down discontent, if any, among the cadre. “Election should be not by chance, but by choice. Today’s politics are dynamic. We must succeed,” he said.
A total of 279 representatives including ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZP, DCCB, DCMS chairmen, BRS state executive committee members and district party Presidents attended the plenary.
