‘teachers Should Be At Centre Of Fundamental Reforms In Edu Sys’ | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: Underlining the role of youth in nation building, the former President of India Ram Nath Kovind said that teachers are the builders of youth power and they should be at the center of fundamental reforms in the education system.
Kovind was addressing the inaugural function of a two-day seminar on ‘Emerging Challenges In Higher Education Before The Academic World’ organized by the Inter University Centre for Teacher Education (IUCTE), Banaras Hindu University on Friday.
Paying emphasis on learning and teaching, he said that it is the duty of a teacher to think and meditate. Every person should be ready to learn without any ego. He also highlighted the importance of education in mother tongue and its application. “Teachers at all levels must be re-established as the most respected and essential members of our society since they play the most important role in shaping our next generation,” he said.
Presiding over the inaugural session, the IUCTE governing board chairman, Prof Jagmohan Singh Rajput said that it is the duty of educationists in every nation to offer solutions to every challenge, internal or external, that the people or the nation may face. The biggest challenge of academia is to see within the light of hope. It requires an in-depth study of history, heritage and culture. He called upon the educationists to work hard to restore their credibility and bring the credibility of the higher education institutions back to an advanced level.
Welcoming the participants, the IUCTE director, Prof Prem Narayan Singh highlighted the features of the seminar. Over 100 participants are attending the seminar. There will be lectures by 15 subject experts. The purpose of this seminar is to identify the emerging challenges in higher education in the present time and in the coming days and brainstorm on what should be the meaningful discussion and future action plan for their solution.
