Nexon 1.0 launched in 2017:
In 2017, Tata Motors launched the first generation Nexon in India. The concept vehicle had been showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and the production model piqued the interest of many buyers. It was initially launched in seven variants and offered two engine options to choose from. The first was a 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that had an output of 109 hp and 170 Nm torque. The bigger 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, diesel Revotorq engine also produced 109 hp and torque was higher at 260 Nm. It came in both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options and the automaker also added a sunroof to the SUV at a later stage.
Tata Nexon 2017-2020
Nexon 2.0 launched in 2020:
After a successful two-year run, Tata Motors launched the second generation of the Nexon SUV with redesigned exterior and interior upgrades. While new headlamps and taillamps might have seemed like a small change at the time, Tata Motors had another trick up its sleeve. The automaker was bringing its first electric SUV into the market and the Nexon was chosen to get that honour.
Tata Nexon 2020-Present
Nexon EV arrives in 2020:
In early 2020, the automaker announced the prices for the Nexon EV, starting from Rs 14.99 lakhs ex-showroom. The Nexon EV featured a 30.2 kWh battery pack and a claimed range of over 300 km. Slowly but surely, Nexon EV sales started to pick up and it has been the top-selling EV in the country since 2020.
Tata Nexon EV 2020-Present
Nexon EV Max 2022:
After getting responses from Nexon EV owners and growing awareness about the limited range of EVs, Tata Motors launched the Nexon EV Max in 2022, to cater to customers who wanted a higher range from their electric vehicle. The EV Max is offered in a bigger 40.5 kWh battery pack that has an ARAI-certified range of 453 km.

Over its 6 year journey, the Nexon has also been seen in several special avatars such as the Dark edition, Kaziranga edition and Jet edition, to keep customer interest alive and the strategy seems to have been working.
