Prayagraj: Elaborate arrangements have been made in the city for the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani and other 100 corporators who would take oath at KP ground on Friday.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya will be the chief guest on the occasion. Besides, senior BJP leader Swatantra Dev Singh, in charge of BJP’s Prayagraj district, will be the special guest on the occasion.
Giving details, BJP spokesperson Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI, “Around 5,000 people including senior leaders of the party and other dignitaries have been invited to attend the event. The BJP will turn the event historic and for that, all necessary arrangements have been made in the city.” “Two dais have been set up for the event. On one dais, the newly elected mayor along with senior party leaders and other officials would take seat while the elected corporators would take seat at another dais,” he further added.
Cultural events will also be organsied. People from different fields including prominent doctors, teachers, professors, lawyers, religious heads and eminent saints have been invited for the event.
On Thursday, the newly elected mayor Ganesh Kesarwani himself visited the houses of senior party leaders to invite them to attend oath taking ceremony.
It is likely that divisional commissioner or other senior rank administrative official will administer the oath to the mayor. Once the mayor takes oath, he will administer oath to other newly elected corporators.
On the other hand, the mini sadan has been renovated at the campus of Prayagraj municipal corporation (PMC) where newly elected mayor and corporators will assume seats. As the number of corporator increased, the number of seats have also been increased in the mini sadan.
While BJP has 56 corporators, other political groups like Samajwadi Party, Congress, BSP and AIMIM have 16, 4, 2 and 2 corporators respectively. Moreover, newly elected chairmen and members of six out of eight nagar panchayat will also take oath on Friday at respective block campus.
