Prayagraj: Leaders of Samajwadi Party (SP) on Tuesday held a meeting to discuss the names of aspirants who have sought to contest the upcoming urban local body polls for the post of mayor.
A total of 42 aspirants have submitted their applications to district party leadership for the post of mayor. The name of a possible candidate would be forwarded to national leadership in the next two to three days. On Tuesday, senior party leader and party’s national general secretary Indrajeet Saroj held a meeting with leaders and workers and discussed the prospects of mayoral post aspirants.
Leaders said people of all communities are attracted towards SP and this was the reason over 40 aspirants had come forward to seek mayoral ticket from the party. Leaders said the party would be contesting upcoming urban local body polls and nagar panchayat strongly this year.
