KANPUR: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, who was slated to visit Gorakhpur on Saturday to meet the family of former minister Hari Shankar Tewari to condole his death last week, cancelled his visit and rushed to Saifai following the death of his aunt Samandra Devi (85), wife of Mulayam‘s elder brother Ratan Singh.
Samandra Devi passed away after prolonged illness at the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai.
Her last rites were performed at the Samadhi Sthal near Saifai Mahotsava ground. Besides Akhilesh, his uncle and party’s general secretary Shivpal Yadav, another uncle Ram Gopal Yadav, his wife Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav and former MP Dharmendra Yadav took part in the funeral.
