Rabupura: A Stitch In Time: Rabupura Gets A Sewing Centre With 12 Machines From Faridabad | Noida News – Times of India

Noida: An all-women sewing centre has been set up at the community centre of Rabupura to facilitate the development of vocational skills among girls and women belonging to the economically weaker sections of the area. The centre, which was set up with the help of Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, was inaugurated by Kumari Jyoti Baliyan, sub-inspector of Rabupura police post, on Saturday.
Nearly a dozen sewing machines have been provided for the centre by the Faridabad Textile Processors’ Association (FTPA), Haryana. The centre will operate in three shifts of 3 hours each, starting from 9 am. The first shift will be dedicated to girls studying in class 12, the second shift will be for girls from economically backward strata and the third shift will be open to women from Rabupura and nearby rural areas.
“Efforts are on to make women and girls self-reliant in the Jewar area. If women are self-reliant, then the development of the state and the country will be faster. And given that many development schemes have been planned in and around the airport project like the upcoming apparel park in the area, there was a need to equip the local women with vocational training in the garment sector. It is with this thought that the sewing and stitching centre was started on Saturday at the community centre in Rabupura,” Dhirendra Singh, MLA Jewar, told TOI.
Singh goes on to add that they will take the initiative further to other rural areas of the district, in the future. Singh also stated that a women trainer has been employed at the centre where, for starters, 11 girls of class 12 from Rabupura have enrolled in the first batch and training is expected to start this week.
Plans are also underway to identify and set up self-help groups in the villages to help find employment for women and girls in their own villages. Plans are also being made to procure cloth for the training from the Haryana apparel industry.
On the occasion, Bhupinder Singh from FTPA said that helping girls and women in rural areas will not only strengthen the household but also empower the women. “We are most happy in helping set up the Rabupura all-women sewing centre,” he said.
Others present from FTPA on the occasion were Rajesh Gupta, Pramod Agarwal, Ran Maheshwari, Pratap Arora and more.
