Prayagraj: Officials of the health department on Sunday launched seven days pulse polio campaign and set a target to administer polio drops to around 8.5 lakh children below five years.
On the first day, ‘Polio Booth Day’ was observed where the infants were administered anti-polio drops at around 3,397 booths of the district. Door-to-door campaigns will start from Monday for those children who could not reach the booths and this door to door campaign will be taken up for five days.
Even after this, if any child is deprived of polio drops, he/she can also be given a polio dose on sixth day. Additional CMO and District Immunization Officer (DIO) Dr. Teerath Lal told TOI “We have set a target to administer polio drops to as many as 8,59,978 kids below five years in the district and for that, a total of 3,397 booths were set up across the district on sunday. Department has also constituted a total of 2,022 teams who would conduct door to door campaign to cover each and every house from Monday”. At least 60 mobile teams and 57 transit teams have also been constituted to achieve the target.
