PRAYAGRAJ: Pilgrims and tourists planning to visit the Sangam city for Maha Kumbh 2025 will be greeted by a ‘smart’ Prayagraj. As per the instructions of the state government, several big-ticket projects are lined up under the Smart City Project for transforming the city ahead of the mega religious event.
For this, a comprehensive action plan has been sought from all the departments related to Smart City within the next fortnight. An important meeting was held on Friday evening wherein divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant and Kumbh Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand gave instructions to the officers.
The meeting discussed plans related to sanitation, air quality, renovation of parks, development of parking lots, stray animals, solid waste management, public toilets, street lighting etc looked after by Prayagraj Municipal Corporation.
In the same sequence, various works being done by the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) for the beautification of Akshayavat, Saraswati Koop, Patalpuri temple as well as various places of the city were also discussed.
Reviewing the preparations by the PMC with a view to make Prayagraj the best Smart City, Anand suggested conducting a ‘gap analysis’ of the scope of work being done in different areas before Maha Kumbh. He appealed to make the roads garbage-free and to ensure door-to-door collection of garbage in the entire district. Apart from this, with a view to further promoting cleanliness, instructions were given run awareness campaigns.
To further develop the district from a tourism point of view, instructions were given for beautification of Akshayvat, Patalpuri, Saraswati Koop, Dwadash Madhav and Bhardwaj Ashram and to develop the digital museum from the point of view of international tourists. The tourism department has been asked to prepare a list of temples of Prayagraj that need renovation. Traffic department has been asked to identify intersections where the rotary needs to be expanded further.
