Prayagraj Locals To Soon Enjoy Delicacies In Night Market At Kamla Nehru Road | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: Soon, the denizens of the Sangam City would be able to relish the mouth-watering cuisines in the night market that would be developed at the Kamla Nehru road of the Civil Lines area. Being developed under the Smart City Project, this night market would not only give an option of having delicious food at much cheaper rates as compared to well-known restaurants of the city but will also be a place where denizens could enjoy delicacies even if they are late in deciding for an outing and having food outside.
The Prayagraj Smart City Limited would be given a contract of running the facility for five-years and the tender of Rs 1.47 crores, for the same have been floated by the authorities of the Smart City Project. The process to decide the lowest bidder is almost complete and the work order would be awarded by next month.
Kamla Nehru road stretches from Hanuman temple of Civil Lines to Hindu Hostel crossing. “Although a night market of the eateries is presently operating at a section of this road but the same is running illegally and our idea is to provide safe cuisines from evening to late night and use the same space for parking during the day time”, said mission manager (technical) of the Smart City Project, Prayagraj, SK Sinha.
The official further added that the entire stretch of road will have these night markets in different patches taking care that the same is not operated in front of the school which is on this road. “Besides a clean and safe atmosphere, there will be separate sections for those opting for vegetarian or non-vegetarian food items”, said Sinha. The entire area would be thoroughly cleaned in the night itself so that the same can be used for parking in the daytime, he added. Only the vendors, approved by the agency, which would be given the contract for five years, will be allowed to sell their items and no other vendor will be allowed. To start with, the market would start functioning after the school hours and will open till around 11:00 pm but we can extend the timing provided after ascertaining the situation of law and order for some months.
“This concept has a lot of potential as while running the restaurant we incur several expenses whereas such roadside markets are operating in all the major cities of the country and getting a phenomenal response”, said Raju Jaiswal, owner of a famous restaurant of the city.
Earlier, the plan to set up two-night markets in the city was made before Kumbh-2019 and the process for the same had even started but failed to see the day’s light because of pandemic and the follow-up lockdown. “The idea of having such a market is a boon for students like us who are staying in the private hostels of the city and preparing for competitive exams as often we don’t get a hygenic food late night”, said Ruchi Mishra, an aspirant of the city.
