Prayagraj: After the authorities of the district election office issued notification for the urban local body elections-2023, a total of 60 and 1,603 sets of nomination papers were sold for the posts of mayor and corporators respectively in the city till Friday.
On the third day (Friday ) itself, seven sets for mayor post and 134 sets for corporator posts were sold out.
Similarly, 121 sets of nomination forms for the post of chairman and another 508 forms of members for the eight nagar panchayats including Sirsa, Handia, Bharatganj, Koraon, Shankargarh, Lalgopalganj, Mauaima and Phulpur were sold in past three days, officials said.
On Friday itself, 19 sets of nomination forms for the post of chairman and 65 forms of members for the eight nagar panchayats were sold.
Polls for electing coporators for 100 wards of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation along with mayor besides president and members of eight nagar panchayats of the district would be held on May 4 with nomination taking place between April 11 and 17 followed by scrutiny of the nomination papers on April 18.
Nominations can be withdrawn till April 20 and allotment of election symbols will be on April 21. The counting of votes would take place on May 13.
The DEO has also appointed 16 returning officers and 48 assistant returning officers for the elections with each RO handling the responsibility of seven wards each.
