Poll Preparations Reviewed, Officials Inspect Strong Room | Varanasi News – Times of India



Varanasi: The district magistrate/district election officer S Rajalingam along with additional commissioner of police (Law and Order), S Channappa, chief development officer, deputy district election officer and nodal officers for various election work and officials of municipal corporation and PWD inspected the Police Line ground, LT College campus and Traffic Police Line on Wednesday ahead of urban local body elections.
The DM said that all the vacant places on the campus should be used where 30 to 40-seater buses can operate easily. The places were also marked for parking the bikes and vehicles of the personnel and officers engaged in the urban local body election. He directed the PWD and municipal corporation officials to level the places and clear bushes. The boundary of the campus will be temporarily opened at a suitable place to allow the buses to pass through the police line on the main road.
The DM also directed for marking a convenient place for setting up counters for duty allocation and distribution of EVM machines and the personnel were also asked to put up signages with complete information related to the zone/ward/booth.
While inspecting the preparations related to counting of votes in Paharia Mandi, the DM visited the strong room where EVM machines would be kept under tight security after voting. He directed the officials to close the strong room’s skylight and other five shutter gates by putting plywood. A total of 100 tables will be put in Paharia Mandi for depositing EVMs of 100 wards. The arrangements are being made for the counting of votes of mayor and corporators at Paharia Mandi.
