PRAYAGRAJ: The Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (prelims) Examination, commonly called PCS (prelim), will be held on May 14 (Sunday) to fill up 173 vacant posts, officials said.
To be conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), the exam will be held at 1,241 centers in 51 districts. A total of 5,67,656 candidates have registered for it, the commission officials added.
It will be held in two shifts: from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm; and have two question papers of 200 marks each, they explained.
UPPSC secretary Vinod Kumar Gaur said sector magistrates will remain posted in every district to oversee the smooth conduct of the recruitment exam. Members of the commission have been deployed as observers, he added.
Meanwhile, the Prayagraj district administration has amped up its preparations for the successful conduct of the exam.
On the instructions of district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri, the city has been divided into four zones and 25 sectors, with ADM-ranked officers to be posted as zonal magistrates while SDM-ranked officials, tehsildars and district-level officers of other departments will act as sector magistrates.
As many as 75 centres have been set up for the exam in Sangam city, including the localities on its outskirts such as Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau. As many as 34,664 candidates from the district have registered to appear in the exam.
City magistrate Satyapriya Singh said for the first time a new guideline has been issued to not allow candidates enter exam halls 10 minutes after the commencement of the examination.
Meanwhile, the UPPSC has declared the results of the recruitment exam for two posts of assistant professor (Ophthalmology) in government medical colleges. Interviews for the recruitment were held on May 8 for 31 shortlisted candidates. Pranav Saluja and Priya Singh were selected after the interview, the officials added.
