New Bus Depot Has Few Users, Noida Looks For A Firm To Run It | Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: The Noida Authority plans to hire a private agency to manage its newly built bus terminal in Sector 82 and get Rs 85 lakh monthly rent from the company.
The UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) runs buses on four routes from the terminal, developed as an integrated commercial cum transport hub but deserted at most times since becoming operational in November last year.
TOI reported in February about poor upkeep, empty booking counters and only a few passengers at the terminal. The nine-floor building, constructed with Rs 158 crore on 7.5 acres near Bhangel elevated road, has space for 40 buses, food courts, ATM kiosks, passenger accommodation, etc. From the 3rd floor to the 8th floor, commercial areas are available for government offices and private firms on rent.
The licensing agreement with companies can be for three different parts — ground-floor open parking area and booking centre; first-floor restaurants, cafés and kiosks; and second-floor Yatri Niwas, waiting room, canteen, cyber café and food court—or these may be bundled together depending on the response, officials said.
A S Sharma, a senior manager at Noida Authority, said, “The selected agency or agencies would manage the facilities up to the second floor — the parking space, food court, restaurant, canteen, and Yatri Niwas—and operate the bus booking centre.”
Officials said the agency/agencies would also handle the parking for 25 buses and 100 cars. They may enter into monthly parking passes for cars or buses and use the office areas for transport-related work. They would install charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and may collaborate with nearby societies to let owners charge their EVs for a price.
The agency/agencies would engage all the workers required to manage its services and could also sublet building spaces with prior approval from the Authority. Officials said the licence period is five years, extendable by two years, depending on the performance.
To make the project viable, the Authority has also decided to allow the agency/agencies to use the corridor space for temporary stalls. It has also approved children’s amusement activities in the building to increase footfall.
