VARANASI: The court of additional district judge-IV (MP-MLA), Ghazipur, Durgesh Kumar on Saturday fixed May 20 as the date for delivering his order in a Gangster Act case lodged against jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari. The don was booked under Gangster Act by Ghazipur police for a third time in 2009 after he was accused in two cases lodged with Karanda police.
Additional district government counsel (criminal) Ghazipur, Niraj Srivastava said that with the submission of written arguments by the lawyer of Mukhtar Ansari, trial in the case lodged under Gangster Act against him was completed at the ADJ-IV (MP-MLA) court on Saturday. “After it the court reserved its order and fixed May 20 to deliver it,” added Srivastava.
As per the records of this Gangster Act case, one Mir Hassan of Mohammadabad had lodged a case of murder attempt against Sonu Yadav of Parsahi in 2009. During a police investigation, Mukhtar was accused of hatching a criminal conspiracy in this case. Mukhtar was also accused in the Kapildeo Singh murder case that took place in Karanda police station area in 2009.
On the basis of these two cases, Karanda police had booked Mukhtar and other two accused persons Radhey alias Radheyshyam Harijan and Sonu under Gangster Act.
Before the court gave its judgement in this case, Mukhtar had already been awarded punishment in two other cases of Gangster Act lodged by Ghazipur police. On April 29 Mukhtar and his brother Afzal Ansari were awarded 10 years and four-year imprisonment, respectively, in a case of Gangster Act in which they had been booked in 2007.
Mukhtar was booked for his involvement in coal tycoon and Vishwa Hindu Parishad office-bearer Nandkishore Rungta kidnapping case of 1996 and BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case of 2005. Afzal was included in gang chart prepared following Krishnanad Rai murder case.
In another case of Gangster Act lodged against Mukhtar and his close aide Bhim Singh in 1996, MP-MLA court of Ghazipur on December 15, 2022, had awarded 10-year rigorous punishment to Mukhtar who is currently lodged in Banda jail.
