MG Motor launches Comet EV, ‘smallest’ all-electric vehicle in India


MG Motor has launched Comet as its second electric vehicle (EV) in India (after ZS EV). It is said that Comet EV is the smallest all-electric vehicle in India, as well as one of the smallest cars in the country.

MG Comet EV is the second EV from MG Motor India.

With Comet, the British automotive giant aims to target buyers in urban centres, according to HT Auto.

MG Comet EV: Size

Positioned by MG at the entry-level EV segment, the car has a length of less than 3 metres, stands 1,640 mm tall, and runs on 12-inch steel wheels.

MG Comet EV: Range

It comes with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, which, the auto giant claims, gives the model a range of 230 kms. There are three driver modes: Eco, Normal and Sport.

MG Comet: Powertrain

Launched on Wednesday, Comet is powered by a single motor that churns out a maximum power output of 41 hp and peak torque of 110 Nm. The top speed, on the other hand, is 100 kmph.

MG Comet: Features

There are features such as two 10.25-inch infotainment screens, an all-digital driver display, a rotary dial for driving the vehicle, two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, and more. There is, however, no dashboard.

MG Comet: Price and colour

Given an introductory price of 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom), the EV will take on the likes of Tata’s Tiago EV and Citroen’s eC3. Available in a 2-door, 4-seat setup, it is being offered in three single-tone options: Black, Silver and White. Dual-tone options are Green with Black roof and White with Black roof.
