MG Comet EV breaks cover in India: Launch expected in April 2023 – Times of India


MG Motor India finally unveiled its highly-anticipated Comet EV in the Indian market on April 19, 2023. After the ZS EV, the MG Comet is the second electric vehicle from the manufacturer. Based on the GSEV platform, the production of the MG Comet EV has already begun at the carmaker’s Halol plant in Gujarat. The Comet EV is expected to launch at the end of April 2023.
MG Comet EV: Dimensions
The MG Comet EV measures 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,010 mm.
MG Comet EV: Design
Featuring a boxy design, the MG Comet EV is equipped with an enclosed grille, MG badging, LED headlamps with DRLs and tail-lamps. Moreover, it gets LED strips at the front and rear, and 12-inch wheels. The two-door electric hatchback has a seating capacity of 4 passengers.

MG Comet EV: Colour options
The MG Comet EV will be available in five colour options – Apple Green with Black Roof, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, Candy White and Candy White with Black Roof.

MG Comet EV: Interior
On the inside, the MG Comet EV sports a dual-screen setup, including a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The Comet EV gets a two-spoke steering wheel with controls, connected car technology, ambient lighting and rear parking sensors.
MG Comet EV: Battery and range
The MG Comet EV gets a 7.3 kWh Lithium-ion battery, providing a range of 230 km on a single full charge, says MG. Powering the Comet EV is a rear-axle-mounted electric motor that produces a peak power of 41 hp power and a max torque of 110 Nm. Using a 3.3 kW AC charger, the battery can be fully charged in around 7 hours. The MG Comet EV can also be charged at home using a 16 AMP socket.
MG Comet EV: Safety features
Safety suite of the MG Comet EV consists of dual front airbags, ESC, Type Pressure Monitoring system, reverse parking camera, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

MG Comet EV: Expected price
The manufacturer is likely to launch the MG Comet EV in the end of April 2023. It will be available at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh, while the top-spec is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV, Tigor EV and the Citroen eC3 in India
