THANE: A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife who works at a bar following an argument over her continuing with the profession, Thane police said on Wednesday.
The woman suffered serious stab injuries in her neck and abdomen and is recuperating at a government hospital, the police said.
Police said the couple that stays in Lokmanya Nagar area of Thane, has two daughters. While the man, a painter by profession, was out of work for a long time, the woman worked as a performer at a few bars in and around Thane.
The duo used to have frequent quarrels as the husband objected to the woman continuing with her profession and her contacts frequently visiting their house in the presence of their young daughters, the police said following preliminary investigations.
“The incident was reported on Tuesday morning when the couple fought over the same issue while the woman snubbed his objections claiming that she was the sole earning member of the family. This angered the man who, in a fit of rage, picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife,” a police officer said.
The man was arrested and booked for attempt to murder.
