Man beats wife with sticks and strangles his daughter, held | Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: A 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling his one and a half year-old daughter after a quarrel with his wife in Jewar on Friday.
The accused, Deepak Prajapati, fled from his house in the Salliyan area of Jewar after choking the toddler. He was caught within hours after cops were informed the same evening. Neighbours took the child to hospital but doctors said she had already died.
Prajapati, an alcohol addict, allegedly assaulted his wife Gayatri Devi and his four children frequently. Apparently, he was unhappy that the couple had three girls and only one boy and blamed his wife for it.
On Friday afternoon, Prajapati again beat up Gayatri with sticks during a quarrel following which the woman left for her mother’s house in Kanpur leaving the four children behind. Prajapati’s father was in the house when the accused strangled his youngest daughter. An FIR on murder charges was lodged after Gayatri submitted a complaint at Jewar police station. On Saturday, Prajapati was produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody.
