Yet another test mule of the Mahindra Thar 5-door has been spied on test, this time around, pacing out on a highway. While the car is fully covered, the rear doors are clearly visible, along with the longer wheelbase. This will result in more space at the rear as compared to the Thar 3-door, and also possibly open up more boot space. The alloy wheel design seems to be different from what is offered with the 3-door version.
Moreover, the 5-door version of the SUV will likely be offered with a hard-top only, unlike the 3-door iteration which is also offered with a convertible soft-top option. The 5-door Thar will of course, be positioned above the 3-door Thar in Mahindra’s lineup. Previous test mules have also revealed the addition of features like a new headliner, a front armrest, a sunglass holder, and even an electric sunroof over the standard Thar!

The Mahindra Thar 5-door will likely also be offered with the same 2.2-litre diesel (130 PS) and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (150 PS) engine options, with both automatic and manual transmission options. What’s more, the 5-door version of the SUV will also likely get the optional 4×2 configuration along with 4×4. As of now, Mahindra retails the Thar 3-door at a base price of Rs 10.54 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 16.78 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).
