Varanasi: The Varanasi district witnessed an all-round development in the last eight years with completion of 1,243 projects at the cost of Rs. 17,822.68 crore. At present, about 364 projects costing more than Rs 50 lakh each are under construction with an amount of Rs 11,842.33 crore.
Narrating this information in front of reporters here on Saturday, former UP minister Neelkanth Tiwari highlighted the achievements of the Yogi Adityanath government on the completion of one year of the second term. He said that more than seven crore devotees visited Kashi Vishwanath Dham in one year. Varanasi has been a prominent cultural, educational and religious centre of India, especially North India, for thousands of years. He said that the GST collection has increased by 30 to 40 percent in the state. A fear-free atmosphere of law and order has been created in the state, and the criminals cannot even think of committing a crime. He said that while on one hand infrastructure facilities have been developed rapidly, on the other hand, special attention is also being paid to service sectors like education, labour, employment, medical due to which the development of Varanasi district is achieving new heights.
Tool kits were distributed under ODOP scheme on the occasion to 10 beneficiaries, including Dinanath Gupta, Ajay Singh, Rambabu Gupta, Roshanlal, Chhotu Singh, Baibhav Vishwakarma, Bharat Singh, Anuradha Singh, Ajay Seth and Shankar Prasad. Earlier, a booklet published by the information department on public welfare schemes of all the eight assembly constituencies was also released.
