Kanpur: Kanpur Metro in association with an NGO named Desai Foundation Trust on Saturday organized a one day Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp at Motijheel Metro Station. Every year May 28 is celebrated as Menstrual Hygiene Day with the aim of sensitizing the society towards menstrual hygiene. During this camp, commuters and employees of Kanpur Metro were informed about the importance of using sanitary napkins dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. During the interactive session/discussion in the camp organized at Motijheel Metro Station, the participants were educated about the importance of using sanitary napkins, myths related to menstruation and various menstrual hygiene products available that can be used during menstruation. Along with this, ‘Asani’ sanitary napkins made by the women of the NGO were also distributed among the attendees. Sanitary napkins were also available for sale at subsidized rates at stalls set up in the camp. tnn
