VARANASI: Cyber crime police busted a gang of cyber criminals with the arrest of two fraudsters. The arrested criminals used to target retired policemen and PAC personnel and withdraw huge cash from their provident fund and pension accounts.
Inspector cyber crime police station Vijay Narain Mishra said that the two fraudsters identified as Nirbhay alias Chandan Yadav and Deepak Yadav of Jahanabad district in Bihar were arrested with four android phones, 21 fake Aadhaar cards, 16 PAN cards, three passbooks, bank slips, cash worth Rs 5,600, two bags, ATM card and bank deposits of Rs 27,000 were also seized.
Mishra said that taking note of the complaints lodged by a retired policeman Upendra Kumar Singh, who was duped of Rs 18 lakh by the fraudsters, and retired PAC personal Lallan Prasad, the cyber crime police had started tracing the criminals. Initially six fraudsters including five from Bihar and one from Ballia had been arrested, he said adding, with the progress in investigation two more were arrested on Sunday.
The arrested duo divulged that they used to mislead the retired policemen and paramilitary personnel by offering different schemes and offers to them posing as treasury officers. After procuring their Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and other details they used to withdraw money from their accounts. The gang of these fraudsters operated in an organised way from Varanasi, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Patna, Nalanda and other cities.
