Kanpur: Field Gun Factory Mazdoor Union on Wednesday celebrated its 70th foundation day at the main gate of the factory. Chandrabhan Yadav, general secretary of the Mazdoor Union recalling the 70 years old history of All India Defence Equipment Factory said this factory was established in 1953 and Maitreyee Bose and SM Banerjee were its first president and general secretary. Since then, the Mazdoor Union has been working in the interest of the employees of the Defence Industry. The members took the pledge to fight against privatisation, new pension scheme, closure of defence establishments, anti-labour laws etc. Later in the afternoon, a symposium was held in which Dr Arjun Bhatnagar talked about the problems being faced by the people after Covid. Alok Kumar, director, Field Gun Factory, Sanjay Kumar Gund, general manager, Mohit Maithani, officials and many labourers were present. tnn
