AGRA: An elderly couple was found dead inside their house in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district on Saturday morning, police said, adding that they suspect foul play as several injury marks were found on the victims’ bodies. The incident took place in village Badampur under the Iglas police station area of the district.
The deceased have been identified as Ramji Lal (80), a farmer, and his wife Bhagwan Devi (70). The victims’ bodies were found lying inside their house by their granddaughter on Saturday morning, who then informed the police.
Senior superintendent of the police (SSP) Aligarh, Kalanidhi Naithani, said, “A local inquiry is being conducted. We suspect foul play as several injury marks were found on their necks and hence, it can be a case of strangling. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. They also owned 20 bighas of agricultural land. We are looking at all possible angles and further investigation is underway.”
The victims are survived by three sons, who live in the same village, said police.
