While the Monster SP sits atop the Ducati Monster range, it gets the same Testastretta liquid-cooled 4-valve twin-cylinder engine, putting out 111 hp of maximum power at 9250 rpm and 93 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. However, the changes over the standard Monster include a unique MotoGP-inspired livery, Ohlins front and rear suspension, Brembo Stylema front callipers, Termignoni-approved exhaust, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, steering damper, a lithium-ion battery, a red saddle and a pillion seat cover.

Ducati says that the Monster SP is 2 kg lighter than the standard Monster, thanks to lighter front fork, lighter braking equipment, as well as the lighter lithium-ion battery. The company also claims that the new steering damper improves stability under acceleration and cornering. Ducati has also recalibrated the riding modes, with the addition of a new ‘Wet’ mode.
The equipment on offer also includes Ducati Traction Control, Launch Control, ABS Cornering, Ducati Quick Shifter, a 4.3-inch color TFT instrument cluster, Ducati Wheelie Control, full LED lighting system with sweeping technology direction indicators, a small flyscreen and so on.
