District Judge To Hear 7 Cases Related To Gyanvapi On May 3 | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: The district judge’s court will on May 3 hold the next hearing on whether the seven cases related to Gyanvapi mosque, which have been transferred to the court of the district judge from different courts, would be consolidated or heard separately.
Lawyer of plaintiffs 2 to 5 (Laxmi Devi, Sita Sahu, Manju Vyas and Rekha Pathak) in suit no. 18/2022(Rakhi Singh vs state of UP and others) Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi said, “Hearing in this matter was scheduled on Monday. But, due to condolence, no legal work took place in the court. The court of district judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha fixed May 3 for next hearing in this case.”
On April 17, the district judge had accepted the plea of the four women plaintiffs in suit no. 18/2022 (seeking regular worship of Shringar Gauri and other deities in Gyanvapi mosque compound) to transfer seven cases related to Gyanvapi from various courts to his court.
Chaturvedi said, in his order the district judge has also mentioned that after the seven Gyanvapi-related cases pending in different civil courts will reach his court following the transfer, the issue of their consolidation will be examined to know whether it would be relevant.
The advocate of the women plaintiffs Vishnu Shankar Jain had moved an application on December 5, 2022 for transfer of seven cases from the courts of civil judge (senior division) FTC and civil judge (senior division) to the district judge court mentioning they are of similar nature, hence if they were tried together, public time and money would be saved and unavoidable difficulties of legal nature may not arise.
