Prayagraj: Disappointment looms large among eligible voters of city whose names were found missing from the Prayagraj nagar nigam voters’ list.Complainants alleged that despite completing formalities, their names were missing from voters’ list.
For instance, Civil Lines residents and first-time voters, including Kshitij, Aryaman, Pulkit and others had submitted their forms to get their names added in ward no 58 (Civil Lines second) two months back but on Wednesday they found their names missing. The youngsters alleged that they never received any call from the booth level officers concerned for verification.
“Missing of names on voters’ list is the main cause behind low voting percentage and authorities concerned are least bothered about this,” said Devraj, a youngster adding “Even those who have their names on list, don’t get voters’ slip from their BLO concerned and find it difficult to cast their votes.” Sarojni Naidu Marg resident Sandeep Bhargava alleged that her entire family’s names was missing. Anjali of Civil Lines said: “Tall claims of district authorities have fallen flat as we found our names missing on the voters’ list.” On Wednesday, scores of voters were spotted taking round of office of district election office and approaching BLOs to find their names on voters list.
A senior BJP leader told TOI “We have submitted many names of voters at the office of district election office during voters review exercise but no names were added.”
