LUCKNOW: Defying all odds, daughter of domestic help and a daily wager, Shivani Verma of Study hall Educational Foundation school scored 94.4% in CBSE results declared on Friday.
Elated over the result, Verma said, “I don’t have any computer or laptop. My father bought me a smartphone in Class 6 because it became an absolute necessity as I had to be part of the class WhatsApp group. My brother and I were able to attend all online classes because of it during the pandemic.”
Born and brought up in Lucknow, Verma has been a student of the school for the last 13 years. The humanities student is planning to pursue a BA (Bachelors of Art) degree with history as a major subject.
“History has always been my favorite. Learning more about the origins has always tempted me, though I am a bit disappointed with my marks (91 marks) in the subject,” said Verma.
