Varanasi: The 12-day Ganga Pushkaralu Mela, which started in Kashi on April 22, concluded with religious and cultural programme at Kedar Ghat on Wednesday evening. During the festival, several Telugu pilgrims visited the city and took holy baths in the Ganga, performed pind daan and offered prayers at Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple.
On the invitation of the president of Shri Kashi Telugu Samiti and Rajya Sabha member, GVL Narasimha Rao, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the Ganga Pushkaralu Fair through video conferencing on April 29.
Various cultural and religious events were held during the Pushkaralu festival which was organised along the banks of the Ganga after a gap of 12 years. The city witnessed a huge turnout of Telugu people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The district administration made prior arrangements for boarding transport, signage, Telugu speaking guides and other facilities for the convenience of the pilgrims. tnn
