Kanpur: Communist Party of India (Marxist) and other Left parties are supporting BJP’s rival parties in the run-up to civic elections in the state. Former MP and CPM leader Subhashini Ali on Sunday said that despite the triple engine government, the condition of the municipal bodies is worse. CPM and other left parties have decided to support such parties whose candidates are capable of defeating the mayoral candidates of BJP across the state, she said. “In Kanpur, left parties and CPM have fielded candidates for the post of corporator from four wards, but when it comes to mayoral poll, we have been extending our full support to the Samajwadi Party‘s mayoral candidate Vandana Bajpai”, Subhashini Ali said. “As mayoral election is a big election, keeping this in mind, we have decided to support the candidate who can defeat the BJP candidate,” she further said. tnn
