Varanasi: A one-day conference on lung cancer, highlighting the role of physicians in early detection of lung cancer patients was organised by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre on Saturday. About 100 physicians working in government and private hospitals were present in the conference. Organisers Dr Mayank Tripathi and Dr Ajay Choubey, associate professors of MPMMCC and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, said that lung cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer deaths worldwide. However, if the disease is detected on time, not only can it be controlled to a great extent, but it also can be cured. Most of the patients coming to the hospital for treatment come late, due to which the disease reaches the advanced stage.” TNN
