Varanasi: The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to ensure its success in the upcoming urban local bodies elections for the Varanasi Municipal Corporation.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to address a public meeting at Shivpur mini stadium on April 30 while the city unit of the party has also geared up to hold booth level meetings at all the 1,328 booths soon.
According to the city president Vidyasagar Rai, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya will also campaign in favour of the mayoral candidate Ashok Tiwari and the candidates for the post of corporators on April 28. In order to make the victory historic, UP Jal Shakti minister and former BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, other ministers, senior leaders as well as MPs Ravi Kishan and Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ are also expected to campaign in Varanasi.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the Election Steering Committee of BJP regarding the municipal elections was held at the Jawahar Nagar office on Monday. The state general secretary and MLC, Govind Narayan Shukla said that while giving the mantra of victory, the CM Yogi had instructed the workers to ensure that booth level meetings are held at all the 1,328 booths on the same day.
Addressing the meeting, Shukla said a strategy should be made to ensure victory at all booths with focus on each booth. A strategy should be made to hold 100 street meetings at the ward level, which would create an atmosphere in favour of the party, he said. Besides, dialogue should be planned with various NGOs, doctors, teachers, advocates, enlightened people through various cells and departments of the party, he added.
The meeting was attended by the UP minister Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, mayoral candidate Ashok Tiwari, senior BJP leader Shivnath Yadav, former minister and MLA Neelkanth Tiwari, Cantt MLA Saurabh Srivastava, Ajgara MLA T Ram and others.
