THANE: A chain snatcher was apprehended in Navi Mumbai area and jewellery worth Rs 50,000, which was stolen, was seized from him, police said on Wednesday.
On the evening of May 14, two men riding a motorcycle had snatched a woman’s chain in the Airoli area of Navi Mumbai, causing minor injuries to her.
The Rabale police station’s inspector, Chandrakant Landge, stated that the 29-year-old man who was riding the motorcycle at the time of the incident was arrested on Tuesday.
Police were looking for his accomplice who was riding pillion at the time of the crime, he added.
Jewellery worth Rs 50,000 and a motorbike worth Rs 1,10,000 used in the crime were seized, the police official said, adding that the arrested man was booked under Indian Penal Code section 394 (causing hurt during robbery).
