Aston Martin DB12 unveiled with impressive 680 hp: Priced at Rs 4.8 crore – Times of India


British luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin has unveiled the successor to the DB11, the Aston Martin DB12 at Rs 4.8 crore (ex-showroom). The new Aston Martin DB12 is referred to as “the world’s first super tourer” by the company. Bookings for the Aston Martin DB12 will commence in June. Deliveries will start in the Q4 of 2023.
The carmaker introduced the DB12 on its 110th birthday and 75th anniversary of the DB nameplate. Based on the DB11, the stunning Aston Martin DB12 has received significant upgrades in terms of interior, chassis, and powertrain.

Talking about the exterior, the DB12 gets a bigger front grille, larger wheels, and beefier aero elements. Featuring a muscular stance, it has got a revised Aston Martin logo, smaller wing mirrors, and flush door handles for a stunning appeal.

The front fascia now sports reshaped LED Matrix technology headlamps and a DRL signature. Aston Martin has introduced Aston’s revised wings badge on the production car for the first time.

In terms of interior, the Aston Martin DB12 has received a makeover and now comes equipped with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen at the centre. The infotainment unit supports smartphone connectivity, navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and Over-the-Air connectivity.

Moreover, the luxury carmaker has retained controls for functions placed on the new steering wheel and the new gear lever. Aston is offering a free three-year subscription after the sale that includes a voice assistant, 4G-connected navigation, remote diagnostics, and a car locator.
Aston Martin DB12: Platform
Based on the same platform as the DB11, Aston Martin claims that the DB12’s aluminium, chassis is 7 percent stiffer while retaining its grand touring capabilities. The Aston Martin DB12 also receives a retuned brake booster.

Aston Martin DB12: Powertrain
Under the hood, the DB12 is powered by a Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine that churns out a peak power of 680 hp and a max torque of 800 Nm. It generates 34% more torque than the DB11 V8 engine. Having a top speed of 325 kmph, the Aston Martin DB12 sprints from 0-100 kmph in 3.6 seconds. Larger turbochargers, improved cooling, tweaked compression ratios and modified cam profiles contribute to the power hike.

The company will launch the new Aston Martin DB12 in the Indian market in October 2023. Upon launch, it will compete with the Ferrari Roma and the Bentley Continental GT in India.
