Earth Day: Species that humans saved from extinction



Pygmy Rwandan water lily

This grew only around a thermal hot spring in Mashyuza, Rwanda, and is famous as the tiniest water lily on the planet. It became extinct as the hot spring saw human interference. Thankfully, a botanist had collected the species before it got lost in the wild and was able to cultivate it successfully after much effort.
