Atiq-Ashraf murder: Prayagraj court sends three shooters to 4-day police remand | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on Wednesday remanded gangster brothers Atiq Ahmed and Khalid Azim alias Ashraf’s killers to four-day police custody (till April 22). The SIT team, formed to probe the killings of the duo, had sought the police custody of the three alleged assailants.
Prayagraj police produced all three persons in the CJM court on Wednesday morning and sought a seven-day remand of the accused.
All the three accused — Lavlesh Tiwari, Mohit alias Shani and Arun Kumar Maurya — were brought to the court amid three-tier security arrangement. They were taken away to reserve police lines after around an hour-long appearance in the court.
During the remand, the police will question the accused about the weapon used to kill Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, and from where they managed to receive the weapons and how?
The police will also seek to know the prime reason behind the murder of the gangsters. All three accused will again be presented in court again on April 23.
Meanwhile, senior police officials of Prayargaj Commissionerate on Wednesday suspended four policemen including the SHO of Shahganj on the charges of dereliction of duties.
