Tata Motors: Tata Motors to increase prices of its passenger vehicles from this date – Times of India

Homegrown Automaker Tata Motors announced that it will be increasing prices across its model range. The new prices will be effective from May 1st, 2023. The weighted average increase will be 0.6%, depending on the variant and model. The company said that it has been absorbing a significant portion of the increased costs on account of regulatory changes & rise in overall input costs and is hence compelled to pass on some proportion through this hike.
The company recently increased the prices of Tata Punch, Altroz, Tiago and Tigor due to the implementation of BS6 Phase II norms. Tata Motors also increased the prices of its commercial vehicles by up to 5%. In other news, Tata Motors is now working towards launching the CNG versions of Punch and Altroz hatchback.

Tata Motors showcased both cars at the 2023 Auto Expo. In February 2022, the company entered the CNG segment by launching Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG. The Altroz and Punch CNG will feature a split tank setup which allows the tanks to be fitted in the boot floor, which helps in not compromising the boot space. Each tank has a capacity of 30 litres. The company has not revealed the capacity of the boot but the regular variants of Altroz and Punch get 345 litres and 366 litres of boot space.

Talking about the powertrain, both Altroz and Punch get the same 1.2-litre, 3-cyl, NA petrol engine which puts out 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. However, in CNG mode the engine produces lesser 77 PS and 93 Nm of torque. In CNG guise, the engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual only. Similar to the Tiago CNG, the CNG versions of the Altroz and Punch could have a claimed fuel efficiency figure of about 26 – 27 km/kg.
