Prayagraj: With the number of polling booths declining from 1,297 to 1202 in Mahanagar area after booth mapping exercise, the Mahanagar unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have deputed a team of 11 key members at each and every booth in an attempt to connect with the all eligible voters ahead of urban local body polls.
Party leadership has come up with a new booth strengthening (Booth Shasaktikaran) exercise and deployed 11 key members at a single booth with different roles and responsibilities.
These 11 key members included booth president, booth secretary, booth level assistant, whatsapp pramukh, Mahila Pramukh, Yuva Pramukh, Man Ki Baat Pramukh, Labharthi (Beneficiary) Pramukh, Samajik Shreni (social work) Pramukh, influential voter ( Prabhavi matdata) pramukh and karyakram pramukh.
BJP spokesman Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI, “After acknowledging the declining number of booths in Mahanagar area through booth mapping, the party has chalked out an elaborate plan to connect with voters in both online and offline mode.” He added that after holding national, state and regional working committee meetings, party leadership has asked its cadre to focus on forthcoming urban local body polls and 2024 parliamentary polls. The booth mapping exercise is underway and the number of booths has already declined. Party has a prime objective to connect with all eligible voters in all 100 wards.
Kesarwani, meanwhile, said, “Earlier, each and every assembly constituency had around 400 polling booths and every booth ranges around 600 to 1,200 names of voters.
However, district authorities this time have curbed the number of polling booths and added the names of voters to nearby booths. With this, each booth has around 1,200 to 1,500 voters and as a result, the number of booth has declined from 1297 to 1202. Party has also focused on data management and for that, workshop will be organised at mandal, district and booth levels to strengthen booth management”. Workers of all morchas s are being engaged for data management.
