PRAYAGRAJ: With the aim of expediting the process for the commencement of developmental projects in the district as part of the preparations for the forthcoming mega religious fair of Mahakumbh-2025, the state government has continued with allocation of funds.
Now, a budget of Rs 66 crores for seven projects of the power department has been approved by the state government and an amount of Rs 11 crore, as first instalment for these seven projects, has been released.
Earlier, a budget of Rs 850 crore has been approved for 38 projects in the district in view of Mahakumbh 2025 and a total of Rs 218 crore have been released as the first installment for them. The budget for the remaining projects is also expected to be released in the coming days.
The approval of the projects and release of budget follows the decision of the state government regarding preparations for Mahakumbh-2025 which is on the top priority list of the state government. The government has allocated Rs 2,500 crore for this mission in its annual budget for 2023-24 in February 2023. The budget was agreed upon for 86 projects in the two meetings of the state-level apex committee chaired by the chief secretary of the state Durga Shanker Mishra.
The seven projects, for which funds were approved and released for the Electricity Department include major ones like Rs 18 crores sanctioned for the 132 KVA line at Minto Park substation to be made underground and connected to the old power house while Rs 12 crore would be spent to make all the 33 KV lines underground in the parking built at Tikonia Park Similarly, Rs 10.67 crore would be spent on constructing a new 33 KV sub-station in Mayo Hall
Mahakumbh-2025 Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand said, “Order for sanction and release of funds of remaining sanctioned projects too would get issued soon.”
After getting the budget from the government, now the tender process would be initiated. It is expected that after April the construction work for projects sanctioned as part of preparations for Mahakumbh-2025 will start in the district.
The minister in-charge of the district Swatantra Dev Singh, who came to Prayagraj last week, had directed that the work on big projects should be expedited before the rains start in June-July.
On March 22, for the first time the first instalment of the budget worth over Rs 27.87 crore out of the total proposed funds worth over Rs 86.82 crore for 10 projects of Jal Nigam was released by the state government. On March 28, the state government had released over Rs 124.53 crores for 19 different approved development projects of PWD, UPSRTC and Power department against an approved budget of over Rs 478.63 crores.
Likewise, state government has released the first instalment of Rs 54.32 crore against the total budget of Rs 217.88 crore for two projects of UP State Bridge Corporation for constructing two ROBs to come up at Tharwai and Soraon tehsils.
