Kanpur: Manyavar Kanshiram Sanyukt Chikitsalaya and Trauma Centre has achieved National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) of the Government of India on Monday.
Chief medical officer Dr Alok Ranjan, additional director, medical, health and family welfare Kanpur division Saroj Bala Singh and chief medical superintendent of the hospital Swadesh Gupta expressed their happiness as the city-based hospital meeting the NQAS standard and getting the certificate. They congratulated Arif Beg, district advisor to Quality Assurance and the entire staff.
CMO Dr Alok Ranjan said the NQAS certificate is proof that all the standards set by the government are being fulfilled by the hospital.
On behalf of the Central government, the NQAS team conducts inspections of the government hospitals to ensure a better health system. The team gives marks after inspecting the standards set by various departments and the government, the CMO said.
Chief medical superintendent Swadesh Gupta said that in January this year, a two-member team from the Union health ministry had visited the hospital and done a survey of the health services and facilities provided by the hospital to the patients.
The team also visited several wards and interacted with the patients, and after completing all the formalities, it expressed its satisfaction. He said on Monday, a letter was received from the principal secretary, health in which he mentioned that the hospital has got distinction of National Quality Assurance Certification for the year 2022-2023, Gupta said.
It is expected that the hospital, after getting the certificate, is likely to get special funds to be used for expanding and strengthening high-level services and medical and health facilities to the patients, Gupta added.
Dr Arif Beg, district advisor Quality Assurance said that the hospital has received the Kayakalp award four times. He hopes that after getting the NQAS certificate, the facilities in the hospital will be expanded. The inspection team had given 85 percent marks to the labour room, 92 percent to SNUP, 82 percent to operation theatre, 89 percent to the lab, 94 percent to radiology, and 93 percent to the general administration.
