Indian model of healthcare wins praise from international delegates: Minister Mansukh Mandaviya | Varanasi News – Times of India



VARANASI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday claimed that the foreign delegates taking part in the 36th Stop TB Partnership Board meeting in Varanasi appreciated the Indian model of healthcare based on four-tire system.
Mandaviya said 196 delegates from 40 countries got first-hand experience of the Indian model of healthcare. They interacted with the functionaries of TB mission including ASHA workers, ANMs, community health officers, Ki-kashay Mitras and patients.

They were surprised to see India’s four-tier system of healthcare that includes ASHA/ANM, primary, secondary and tertiary services,” the minister told reporters. He added that they realized that the Indian model of healthcare can play a significant role in elimination of TB, as this is a new model for the global war against TB.
Stating that the Ni-kshay Mitra Campaign is helping TB patients to a great extent, Mandaviya said about 12 lakh TB patients are notified in the country and among them, 9.6 lakh have been adopted by 71,000 Ni-kshay Mitras.
The two-day Stop TB Partnership Board Meeting, which is India’s G-20 Presidency Co-branded event, began on Saturday, a day after PM Narendra Modi inaugurated One World TB Summit.
The meeting was attended by Nigeria Health Minister Dr Emmanuel Osagie Ethanire, Brazil Vice Minister Ethel Lenor Noia Maciel, Stop TB Partnership executive director, Dr Lucica Ditiu and minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, among others.
