Students Fail To Pay Fee For Entire Yr, Au Bans Entry In Classes | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: Allahabad University authorities have found that there are a number of students who have attended their classes for the entire year without paying the annual/semester fee of the corresponding course which they are pursuing.
Now, when the AU authorities are preparing for the annual/ semester end examination, they have found that there are many students who need to pay their due fee.
AU has decided that those students, who have not deposited their fee for the respective course, will not be allowed to appear in practical or session end exams. Students who did not submitted their annual fee, did not get their identity cards renewed because when the I-card is renewed for the next class, the student has to present the fee receipt of the next class, wherein he or she has got promoted. Even the departments did not figure this out as the attendance was marked on the basis of previous year enrolment.
According to AU’s public relation officer, Prof Jaya Kapoor, “Although these are not huge numbers but still there are students who have not deposited their fee and have attended the classes or practical’s without paying the fee”. The situation may have arisen because of the fact that the main priority of the varsity administration was to put academics back on track which was adversely affected, first by corona and last year by the late admission because of common test for central universities, she added.
However, now taking strong action, AU has banned classes, both theory and practical, of students coming to the campus without depositing fees. Also, it has been clarified that such students will not be allowed to appear in the examination unless they deposit their fees. Regarding this, the registrar has issued a letter to all the department heads, directors and center coordinators asking them to stop the admission of students who do not deposit fees.
After this order, now students will be given entry at the departments and centers only after checking their ID cards. Along with this, disciplinary action will also be taken against the students who are not able to show the fee receipt in the campus.
The Undergraduate first and second year examinations are scheduled to begin from May 22, 2023. The detailed timetable is likely to be released by the third week of April, says AU PRO.
