Varanasi: A Bharatiya Janata Party’s farmers’ wing leader Bhupal Singh consumed some poisonous substances in Jaunpur district on Saturday alleging harassment by station officer Baksha Triveni Singh on diktat of former MP Dhananjay Singh. He was admitted to a local hospital, where his condition has been stated to be stable. The SO has been attached to police lines.
On getting information, ASP (rural) Jaunpur Shailendra Singh along with other officials, reached the hospital. The ASP said that Bhupal Singh’s allegations against the Baksha police of booking him in a false case on the diktat of the former MP would be investigated. SO Baksha Triveni Singh was attached to police lines, he added.
Initial investigation revealed that after the killing of two youths of Kulhanamau area in an accident on May 14, local natives and Bhupal Singh had blocked Kerakat crossing under Gaura Badshahpur police station area. For blocking the national highway and attacking the police team, an FIR against 61 named including Bhupal Singh and 70 unidentified persons had been registered. To nab the accused persons police had been carrying out raids. During the same drive, the police had also raided the house of Bhupal Singh on May 16.
Annoyed over it, Bhupal Singh consumed some poisonous substance. When his condition started deteriorating he was rushed to a private hospital. On getting information, the BJP district unit president Pushpraj Singh and many other leaders also reached there.
Taking note of incident, SP Jaunpur Ajaypal Singh removed Triveni Singh from Baksha police station and attached him to police lines. The investigation f this case was handed over to CO Sadar SP Upadhyaya.
